Peoria appoints new water services director

David Burks takes over for recently retired Cape Powers

David Burks will serve as the next water services director for the city of Peoria.

City Manager Henry Darwin made the announcement Tuesday.

Burks has been with the city since 2013 and served as deputy water services director the past five years.

“David is a consummate water professional, with vast experience in all areas of water management, environmental testing, capital projects and sustainability,” Darwin shared in a press release. “He has served our residents very well for years and is very deserving of this promotional opportunity.”

Burks was selected among 28 applicants, 10 semifinalists and four finalists.

Burks replaces Cape Powers who retired earlier this month.
