Peoria Arts will present the next installment of the Global Sounds free concert series 7 p.m., April 10, at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, 10580 N. 83rd Drive.

The featured performers are Kawambe-Omowale African Drum & Dance Theatre, a Phoenix-based arts company celebrating almost 30 years in the Valley of the Sun. The group offers a unique and authentic glimpse into African and African Diaspora culture through their dynamic performances of drumming, dancing, singing and storytelling.

Kawambe-Omowale's members have traveled to West Africa to study the music and dance of the Mande cultures in Senegal and The Gambia. They have also studied with master artists from other African countries such as Ghana and Nigeria, as well as with master artists from Cuba. Through their public and private performances, workshops, and weekly community classes, Kawambe-Omowale aims to share their passion for African culture with audiences of all ages.

The show is 80 minutes long with a 15-minute intermission. Complimentary reservations are strongly recommended and can be made online at theaterworks.org or by calling 623-815-7930.
