Happy Anniversary to Peoria!

Posted

June 7, 2023 marks Peoria's 69th incorporation anniversary.

The city, with roots tracing back to Native American settlements along the New River, was named after Peoria, Illinois by founders Joseph B. Greenhut and Deloss S. Brown.

With its growth fostered by agriculture and entrepreneurship, Peoria blossomed from a population of 27 in 1888 to almost 200,000 today.
