City looks to achieve parity in Peoria’s park system

City staff creates index to gauge consistency, equity at parks

During last year’s budget and capital improvement program hearings, the subject of park parity, or lack thereof, between parks in northern Peoria versus parks in southern Peoria came up often.

At the time, many concerning questions were raised, officials said.

Since then, the city’s parks and recreation department has developed a number of criteria to compare the parks, as well as developed a tool that can produce a park condition score.
