Thomasson: Serving is a privilege

Posted

Earlier this year I sat across from many of our past mayors who spoke reverently of our town’s special character and tradition of volunteer leadership.

They reminded me that serving on the Paradise Valley Town Council is an honor and privilege not easily earned.

Today I ask for your vote Aug. 2, and the continued privilege of serving you.

Paradise Valley recently received national recognition as a quiet, residential community where residents feel safe and enjoy our spectacular mountain views. As I’ve walked the town meeting hundreds of residents over the last four years, your voices are clear: maintain the special character of our town and stay focused on public safety.

During the next four years, new homes will be built, older homes will be remodeled, and resorts will seek to be revitalized. I will continue to work tirelessly to assure these inevitable changes remain in character with our beautiful semi-rural town while complying with federal and state laws and town codes. I will stay active in our collective efforts to reduce the negative impact of short-term rentals and other threats to our residential one-acre, single family community.

As we continue to make Paradise Valley an even more sought-after place to live, I will continue to work with my council colleagues and staff to improve your services. Whether reducing building plan approval times, updating our website, or helping with public safety outreach, I’ll make sure our staff has the resources needed, and I will jump in to help.

Continuous improvement is the hallmark of a great organization like the Town of Paradise Valley.

I was fortunate to enjoy a successful 35-year business consulting career and just as fortunate to use those skills to serve you on Town Council. As the only council candidate to receive endorsements from five current and past mayors and six former vice mayors, I feel a deep sense of duty to honor our past volunteer leaders and protect the legacy of our very special town.

I would be grateful for your vote by early ballot or on Election Day, Aug. 2.
