Loving Library to improve mental health

Loving Library will host its second annual fundraising event, “Light Up The Library,” Sept. 23 at Creighton University in Phoenix.

The nonprofit, founded in 2020 by 11-year-old Paradise Valley resident Anaik Sachdev, will raise funds to provide people in need with books, journals and other tools to improve their mental health and well-being. Funds raised at the event will support the Loving Library’s 10 existing chapters and help to open five new ones, according to a press release.

“I hope that the recipients of our books know that others are thinking of them, and they are not alone,” said Anaik, Loving Library founder and CEO. “Reading provides many benefits like reducing stress, improving concentration and boosting creativity.”

Loving Library is celebrating more than 12,000 books donated and the organization’s continued commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of communities in need one book at a time. The nonprofit strives to inspire children to spread kindness and to give back to their community, while empowering and providing youth with tools and resources to lead their own service-learning project.

“We strive to show empathy, compassion, inclusivity and care for those in need,” said Karina Koppikar, Loving Library Ambassador. “We hope other kids will consider starting a chapter where they see a need.”

Guests of the Light Up The Library fundraiser will experience keynote speeches by the organization’s youth ambassadors. There will be a dinner, glow party, raffle and more. Glow attire is recommended.

The event is sponsored by Baker & Taylor, ASU College of Health Solutions, Mosaic Financial Associates, Arizona Allergy Associates and Dignity Health.
