The U.S. Navy Band Commodores jazz ensemble will perform two free concerts Wednesday, Nov. 11, at The Nash in downtown Phoenix. Performances are scheduled for 7 and 9 p.m. as part of the ensemble’s November tour.
The 19-member Commodores are the U.S. Navy Band’s premier jazz ensemble. Formed in 1969, the group performs big-band jazz ranging from swing-era standards associated with Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Thad Jones to vocal selections honoring Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. Its repertoire also includes contemporary jazz and original compositions by band members.
The Phoenix performances are free and open to the public. The Navy Band advises concertgoers to check its event calendar for current ticket or reservation requirements.
