How families in Paradise Valley can help seniors prevent falls and stay independent

Paradise Valley area caregiver shares her guide to making homes safer

Scottsdale resident Leigh Harris-Avril has spent more than 10 years caring for seniors in the Paradise Valley area, helping older adults maintain their independence while navigating the challenges of aging.

As a private duty certified nursing assistant with The Perfect Companion, Harris-Avril said falls are a common concern for seniors and their families, particularly as balance and mobility change with age.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 4.5 million emergency department visits occur each year because of falls among older adults, resulting in 1.4 million hospitalizations.
