Big League Wiffle Ball’s seventh annual Western Wiffle Ball Classic is returning this fall, and its Home Run Derby is back with a fresh format.
The derby takes place during the Western Wiffle Ball Classic set for 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Scottsdale Stadium, 7408 E. Osborn Road, according to a press release.
Hitters can sign up to participate in the qualifying rounds between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., with the $10 entry fee giving them 60 seconds to knock as many Wiffle balls over the fence as possible. The top 16 hitters will then advance to the 7 p.m. finals on the main field to face off in a single-elimination bracket.
“The Home Run Derby’s a huge part of the Classic, so this year, we wanted to give as many people as possible a chance to be part of it,” Big League Wiffle Ball Founder Logan Rose said in the release. “Anyone can come out, put down $10 and get 60 seconds to show the fans what they’ve got.”
