Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board candidates Amy Carney and Jeanne Beasley dropped out of the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce’s candidate forum Sept. 15 after learning volunteers for candidate Dr. Jennifer Johnson’s campaign were sharing the link to the virtual event with the Scottsdale Parent Council and school parent teacher organizations.
“Had all candidates been told from the beginning that this was a public forum and that we should distribute the registration link throughout the community and encourage supporters to participate, we would have had approached the event accordingly,” Carney and Beasley wrote in a post on Beasley’s Facebook page. “Instead, we respected the parameters communicated to us and treated it as an exclusive chamber member event.”
All viewers on the forum we’re muted and the chat box was turned off. There were no questions from the audience.
