A truck terminal and warehouse are to be constructed 1,900 feet east of the southeast corner Pecos and Crismon roads in Mesa.
The facility’s landscaping and design were discussed during the Feb. 11 meeting of the Mesa Design Review Board. Chair Dane Astle and Board member Paul Johnson were absent.
Vehicular access to the 13-acre site is to be from Pecos Road, Staff Planner Joshua Grandlienard said during the meeting.
“It includes two separate buildings. One is the 36,583-square-foot terminal facility, which is ... located on the center of the site; as well as an associated maintenance building,” he said.
Tilt-wall concrete panels or insulated precast concrete panels and a fully insulated roofing system on a metal deck are planned, according to a written project narrative from architect David Mollekopf.
“The project involves clearing and grubbing, site grading, building construction, construction of access drives and parking areas, installation of site utilities, stormwater detention and conveyance systems, and other miscellaneous site improvements,” it states.
Cris Burgum of Saia Motor Freight Lines LLC is the applicant. Saia Motor Freight Lines LLC is the owner.
The all-volunteer Mesa Design Review Board is unique in that its composition is set by the zoning ordinance to include two architects; two from other design professions such as landscape architecture, engineering, urban planning, interior design or other design-related background; one contractor or developer; and two residents, according to the city’s website.
