Remodeled Walmart Supercenter in Mesa hosts community celebration Friday

Walmart will welcome customers Friday to the newly transformed Mesa Walmart Supercenter at 1606 S. Signal Butte Road.

An 8 a.m. Oct. 30 ribbon-cutting ceremony and community event immediately following are planned featuring vendor samplings and an opportunity for customers to enjoy all the new amenities, according to a release.

It will also be a chance for store associates to highlight their commitment to the community, including $4,000 in donations to local nonprofits — $1,000 to Rebuilding Superior and $3,000 to the Civil Air Patrol Cadet program.

Several employees who have been at the store since it first opened in 2007 will also be recognized.

Improvements designed to elevate the Walmart shopping experience include:

• A newly painted building inside and out
• An increased selection of products across multiple departments, including grocery, hardware, health and beauty, home, pets, pharmacy, sporting goods, and more
• Enhanced apparel and home displays, mannequins and vignettes
• Elevated home and fashion options featuring top brands including Scoop, Reebok, Free Assembly, Better Homes & Gardens, and Beautiful by Drew Barrymore
• An expanded seasonal section offering customers more options around the holidays
• New flooring throughout the store replacing existing tile
• New lighting and signage throughout the store, making it easier for customers to navigate
• A new pharmacy layout featuring a health room and privacy area to improve customer service and patient comfort
