Mesa police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with a shooting death Sunday morning.

Michael Binion-Jones has been booked into jail on a second-degree murder charge, police said.

He has been charged in the death of Deangelo Tye, 36,  on Sunday, Nov. 6, in the 7500 block of East Billings.

Police said officers found his body lying in landscaping and followed drag marks and a blood trail leading to an upstairs apartment.

Several people reported to officers that they heard shots fired in the complex about 3 a.m. Nov. 6, police said.

“During the investigation, officers located a personal surveillance camera, which captured Deangelo and 30-year-old Michael Binion-Jones, walking to an upstairs apartment.

"Ten minutes later, the camera captured a lifeless Deangelo being dragged down the stairs and out of view by Binion-Jones,” police said in a release.

Police took Binion-Jones into custody on Nov. 7 in Tempe. He is being held on $1 million bond.
