New charter high school to open at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa this fall

Posted

News Point Academy, a tuition-free public charter high school, will open in fall 2026 at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa.

The academy will initially serve students in ninth and 10th grades with plans to grow into a full four-year high school, according to a release.

Arizona Athletic Grounds, 6321 S. Ellsworth Road, Mesa, is where the academy brings academics and athletics together. The campus offers access to facilities for sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball.

Students at the academy will follow the International Baccalaureate program, a globally recognized academic framework known for its rigor and emphasis on critical thinking, strong communication skills and college readiness. The IB curriculum prepares students to succeed in higher education and beyond by encouraging intellectual curiosity, global perspective, and academic excellence, the release states.

The academy is open to all students and participation in sports is not required. Students may continue training with club or community teams, and all athletic participation will follow Canyon Athletic Association guidelines.

The academy operates as an independent public charter school with its own leadership and governance. The school will collaborate with existing athletic organizations at Arizona Athletic Grounds while maintaining a focus on academic excellence and student development, it states in the release.
