The Mesa Police Department has released its 2025 year-end crime statistics, which show a reduction in violent crime and an increase in juvenile disturbance calls.
“In 2025, the City of Mesa experienced a notable reduction in violent crime, while calls for service increased alongside continued population growth,” Mesa Police Chief Dan Butler said.
Butler tied the results to those working in the department “in partnership with other city departments and the community.”
Violent crime rose steadily from 2020 through 2024, but in 2025 Mesa saw a reduction of approximately 14 percent.
Robberies continued a downward trend, decreasing for the fifth consecutive year and dropping more than 34 percent since 2020, according to a department release.
The report also highlighted a decrease in dispatched calls for service “with an increase in proactive patrol efforts.”
Motor vehicle crimes such as stolen vehicle calls, vehicle burglaries and theft of motor vehicle parts decreased in Mesa last year, officials said.
Law enforcement officials said they are continuing “to monitor an emerging increase in thefts involving electric bikes and scooters.”
The report showed that juvenile disturbance calls increased, “pointing to areas where community and prevention efforts remain critical,” the release stated.
“This is where we need your help,” Butler said in a video to the community that can be found with additional information at: www.mesaaz.gov/pdhighlights
