New Frontiers for Lifelong Learning, a Mesa Community College program for active adult learners, invites the public to its open house 1-3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at MCC’s Red Mountain Campus, 7110 E. McKellips Road in Mesa.
The open house will take place in the Mesquite Building, in room M200. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet current members, explore fall class offerings and register for the upcoming semester. The event is free and open to the public, according to a release.
NFLL, which has over 200 active participants, is dedicated to providing learning activities that encourage intellectual growth, promote social interaction and enhance wellness and health. Volunteers from the community provide classes, discussion groups, social outings and field trips. Interest groups such as book clubs, hiking and biking groups are also offered. Classes are available online, at MCC campuses and a variety of East Valley locations.
“I’ve been a New Frontiers member since 2016 and it has brought so much to my life,” said Terri Pokosh, a New Frontiers for Lifelong Learning member from Gilbert. “I’ve made wonderful new friends, attended intriguing lectures and enjoyed group outings to MCC performances and other destinations throughout the community. There’s always something new to learn, experience or explore — and someone to enjoy it with. I highly value my New Frontiers membership.”
Fall classes start Sept 14 and a new members’ event is 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in the lobby at Red Mountain’s Mesquite Building.
Annual membership dues are $75 for individuals. Semester fees of $20 each for fall and spring, and $10 for summer, allow members to register and participate as their schedules allow. New this year are three other membership types: for social activities only, for couples residing at the same address and for institutions such as assisted living facilities.
