The Mesa City Council approved by the score of 7-0 a $10,569,302 contract for a construction manager for a gas line installation project in the city at their Mar. 17 meeting.
According to council documents, the project will build a 12-inch diameter high-pressure natural gas pipe within the Magma Gas System in Pinal County. This system would support system redundancy requirements, support growth in the region and aid in pressure support for high pressure customers who get gas from the city.
“The selected alignment begins at the intersection of Meridian Road and Pima Road, runs easterly on Pima Road to Ironwood Road, and then south on Ironwood/Gantzel Road to connect to an existing 8-inchpipe at the intersection of Gantzel Road and Combs Road,” council documents stated. “The approximate length of the project is four miles.”
The contract has a total value of $11,626,232 based on a GMP of $10,569,302 with an additional change order allowance of $1,056,930. The project is funded by Utility Obligations Gas, according to council documents.
