The Mesa City Council voted to approve a three-year contract for sign installations at city parks during their Sept. 22 meeting.
The council voted 7-0 to approve a contract to Sierra Signs & Service Inc., which is a Mesa company, to design and install new or repair existing identifications signs around city parks and various city facilities.
The contract is set for $541,500 annually and is funded by the Capital General Fund. The contract has a renewal option of up to two years subject to administrative review and approval.
“This purchase will provide a contractor to design, provide plans, fabricate, and install new or repair existing park identification (ID), rule and building ID signs, and other signage in various parks and facilities throughout the city,” the council document reads.
According to council documents, Sierra Signs & Service Inc. was the highest scoring out of three responses to a request for proposal put out by city staff. Mesa-based Summit West Signs also bid for the contract but was not recommended by staff. The council documents say Excalibur submitted a generic pricing sheet with no proposal documents and was deemed non-responsive.
