Peoria Mayor Jason Beck will give his state of the city address at a kick-off event April 3, with other events to follow later in the month.
The main event will take place at Christ’s Church of the Valley, 7007 W. Happy Valley Road, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Past state of the city events were held at Arizona Broadway Theatre, a smaller venue.
Peoria spokesperson Diane Arthur said CCV provides adequate parking and a location that allows for an outdoor, relaxed BBQ-style dinner space following the larger kick-off event. She added the city has arranged shuttle buses to pick up residents at city hall on April 3 and take them to CCV and return them to city hall following the event and dinner.
The city will also stream the kick-off event live that evening, she said.
The program will begin with a state of the city video featuring a high-level view of the most significant achievements during the past year based on the council’s priorities of public safety, water security, economic development and education.
In addition to the large public event, Beck has scheduled informal public “Community Conversation” visits at the following locations:
April 8, 10 a.m. at the Peoria Community Center, 8335 W. Jefferson Street.
April 10, 10 a.m. at Westbrook Village- Lakes Ballroom, 19281 N. Westbrook Parkway.
Arthur said Beck’s goal in selecting multiple venues and times for the state of the city is to ensure more residents and city employees have an opportunity to attend at a location and time that works best for them.
