Going to a new school is tough enough, but when a student is also moving to a milestone grade, the stress can be overwhelming.
To help prepare sixth graders for the transition to middle school, Eastmark High School hosted a student led “Flying with the Firebirds” event.
Eastmark is in the Queen Creek Unified School District and is located in Mesa. The school houses grades seven to 12.
Tailored to northern QCUSD schools, the event allowed incoming students to tour EHS, make connections and learn what the school has to offer, a QCUSD press release stated.
Welcomed to campus by the Eastmark High band, the students were placed into groups and guided around by the high school’s student leaders.
The student leaders showcased Eastmark and led bonding activities.
“Events like this help prepare sixth graders for their next steps while giving them the opportunity to build connections before the first day of school,” the release continued.
