Don’t forget local Army Reservists after 9/11 remembrances

Phoenix reader calls on Congress to fund modern defense systems to keep troops safe

OPINION — This Sept. 11, we bow our heads to the many we lost on that fateful day. Anyone who was alive that morning remembers not only what they were doing but the emotional toll it took on our entire nation.

It is also a perfect moment to honor the service and commitment of U.S. Army Reserve members in the Phoenix area, many of whom answered the call to come to our nation’s defense that day and in the months the followed. These individuals embody the best of our community.

These soldiers put their lives on the line for us every day, as we know well. In return, Phoenix industries and businesses are hard at work building systems that protect them. We require continued support from Congress, particularly when it comes to funding modern defense systems, especially advanced missile defense.
