FATAL COLLISION
Corvette crashes into motorcycle on US 60, Mesa man dies
Posted
INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A late-night crash along the US 60 in Mesa left a 46-year-old Mesa man dead, and speeding appears to be a factor, authorities said.
The collision occurred about 11 p.m. March 12 when an 18-year-old woman was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette eastbound on U.S. 60 “at a high rate of speed,” the Arizona Department of Public Safety stated in a release. There was also a passenger in the car.
The driver told DPS investigators she saw a motorcyclist in the HOV lane just ahead of her and attempted to stop but rear-ended the motorcycle.
The motorcycle struck a concrete wall, and Michael Clark, 46, of Mesa fell off the vehicle. He died from his injuries, according to DPS.
The Corvette driver told DPS troopers she stopped to check on the motorcyclist and attempted CPR.
DPS officials said an investigation continues and “criminal speed appears to be a factor.”
