Litchfield Park-based Mavericks bring community together for Childspree shopping event

Posted

The West Valley Mavericks Foundation again rallied the West Valley community to ensure more than 200 local children begin the school year with the clothing, shoes, backpacks, school supplies and the confidence they need to succeed.

In partnership with Mercy House, Kohl’s and a growing network of community partners and volunteers, Childspree provides more than just back-to-school essentials — it creates meaningful one-on-one experiences that remind every child they are supported by a community that believes in their future.

This year’s event took place Aug. 1 at Kohl’s locations in Avondale and Tolleson, where volunteers were paired with students for a personalized shopping experience.

Since 2012, the West Valley Mavericks Foundation has awarded more than $4.8 million to charitable causes, supporting more than 150 nonprofit organizations across 15 West Valley communities. Childspree is one of many initiatives that reflects the Foundation’s commitment to investing in local children, families, veterans and nonprofit organizations through its mission of “Charity, Community, Culture, and Commerce.”

Childspree is made possible through the generosity of community partners including SRP, Kohl’s, Mercy House, Wilde Wealth Management Group, Waste Management, BHHS Legacy Foundation, Haymaker, Modern Grind Coffee and dozens of businesses and volunteers committed to strengthening the West Valley.

“The West Valley Mavericks Foundation was built on the belief that lasting change happens through collaboration,” said Natalie Krause, deputy director of marketing and operations. “Childspree is one example of how businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders can come together to create opportunities that have a lasting impact on local children and families.”
