Number of new weekly coronavirus cases in Goodyear holding steady

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported the number of new weekly coronavirus cases in Goodyear’s 85338 and 85395 ZIP codes was 58 as of Friday, May 7, a slight drop over the 63 new cases reported last week.

That brings the number of cases in Goodyear to 11,488.

Vaccinations

Each Wednesday, the county updates the number of residents vaccinated, and the percentage of residents vaccinated by ZIP code at maricopa.gov/5671/Public-Vaccine-Data.

As of May 5, Maricopa County health officials reported that more than 38% of all residents and nearly 50% of residents 15 and older had received at least one dose, and 45% of doses administered completed that resident’s COVID-19 vaccine series.

According to the website, 2,945,969 vaccine doses had been administered in Maricopa County. Of those, 1,603,543 were first dose, 1,324,681 were second dose and 17,745 were unknown.

In Goodyear 85395, 64% of the eligible population had received their first dose and 52.6% had received their second dose. In Goodyear 85338, 54.6% of the eligible population had received their first dose and 42.5% had received their second dose.
