Gas prices are ever-changing, and Independent Newsmedia relies on data aggregators as well as crowdsourced information related to specific gas prices. Gas prices will be updated each weekday and will appear on our homepage around 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, as prices continue to rise. 

Gas prices are having another record-high day. The West/Southwest Valley average is now $4.607 a gallon, up from $4.429 yesterday, March 9. 

$4.29–cheapest Regular gas for Sam’s Club members

$4.49–cheapest Regular gas, no membership required 

Avondale residents currently have the cheapest gas (locations highlighted below). Sam’s Club members will spend $4.29, and Costco cardholders will pay $4.39. Non-card-carrying members can visit two Avondale Circle K locations or a JJ’s Gas to pay $4.49 a gallon for regular gas.

Sadly, for the rest of the West/Southwest Valley, the cheapest gas you’ll likely find is $4.59, which is true for Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Tolleson and Buckeye, according to GasBuddy.com. 

Just one month ago, regular gas in the West Valley cost an average of $3.054, about the same as one year ago, $3.057.

One week ago, West Valley residents were paying around $3.923 a gallon, and yesterday that number was $4.333.

Tracking gas prices on your own

There are numerous apps and sites you can use to track the ever-changing gas prices in your area. GasBuddy allows users to track prices on its website or by downloading the app. 

Gas prices in navigation app Waze are crowdsourced by other Waze users. Plug in your route, and click the gas pump icon to find the cheapest gas in your area or along your route. 

You can search for gas prices while in drive mode on the Google Maps app. Click the gas station icon just below the search bar, and it will provide stations along your route.

If you want to understand how local gas prices have changed over time, AAA tracks current average prices and how they compare to prices yesterday, last week, last month and one year ago. It also tracks the highest average cost ever recorded for comparison.
