The Tolleson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post “Bobby” Diaz Lopez Post 6310 honored SRP with the Purple Heart Advocacy Award for their contributions to the veteran community on Nov. 7 at Renaissance Glendale Hotel & Spa.

SRP provided resources and labor to prepare the parking lot grounds for the new VFW building, bringing the project a step closer to completion.

Until recently, the VFW Post 6310 held meetings at senior centers and fire stations. In August 2021, the post started building their own facility, with veterans playing a big role in the construction.

The veteran community faced a significant challenge with grading and preparing the parking lot, as it required more resources, equipment and expertise than they had. SRP provided time, labor, dump trucks, front loaders, a water truck, and a grader, removing approximately 750 tons of dirt in two weeks.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Robert “Bobby” Diaz Lopez Post 6310 was founded in Tolleson and received its National Charter in 1992. The post has achieved All American status in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.
