Guests can celebrate pumpkins, ghosts and skeletons early with Historic Downtown Glendale’s Summerween event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8.
The holiday originated from an episode of Disney's animated show, “Gravity Falls,” in which the town of Gravity Falls celebrates Halloween twice a year because residents love it so much.

The holiday originated from an episode of Disney's animated show, “Gravity Falls,” in which the town of Gravity Falls celebrates Halloween twice a year because residents love it so much.
Many of the shops and eateries throughout the Historic Catlin Court and Old Towne Entertainment districts are planning Summerween activities. From ink ghosts and jack-o-melons to skeletons dressed in bikinis, the area will be ready to welcome guests to this event.
Activities planned for the day include an area-wide ghost bingo with prizes, make and take crafts, themed menu items at the one-of-a-kind eateries, and Summerween-inspired gifts and décor at the locally owned boutiques and specialty shops. For example, The Spicery in Our 1895 Home will be a ghost bingo site and will have some themed menu items.
Visitors can begin (or add to) the Downtown Glendale Charm Bracelet featuring a Summerween charm drop. Wearing a favorite Halloween costume with a summer twist is encouraged.
The Arizona Information Center at Memory Lane Trinkets and Treasures, 5836 W. Palmaire Ave., will have the activity list, ghost bingo card, and event map. The first 100 guests will receive a Summerween event sticker.
At the end of the day, 2Share a Unique Boutique, 5807 W. Glendale Ave., will host the ghost bingo prize announcements.
Summerween is sponsored by the Historic Downtown Glendale Merchants Association in partnership with 2Share a Unique Boutique and the Historic Downtown business community. For information, visit www.visitdowntownglendale.com or call 623-299-2060.
