Navy petty officer from Glendale joins unmanned undersea group

Posted

Petty Officer 1st Class Edmundo Zuniga Reyes, a native of Glendale, is one of the sailors assigned to Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Group 1, the Navy’s first unmanned undersea group.

In the Pacific Northwest, sailors and engineers are working to extend the U.S. Navy’s reach and push the capabilities of unmanned vehicles.

“Growing up, I was taught to always be understanding and to stay humble,” Zuniga Reyes stated in a press release “I understand that everyone comes from a different background, and being able to see others’ point of view has helped me succeed in the Navy.”

Zuniga Reyes joined the Navy six years ago and now serves as a logistics specialist for submarines.

He has had many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.

“My proudest accomplishment is being selected as Battle Stations Chief of the Watch,” Zuniga Reyes stated. “I received this title as a second class petty officer. It usually is a title you don’t get until the rank of chief or higher, so being able to hold such a high-ranking title at only second class gave me great pride.”
