Legacy schools honor Glendale campus teacher

Legacy Traditional Schools, a public charter school network in Arizona, recently announced John Saavedra, a sixth grade writing and junior high creative writing teacher at Legacy Traditional School – Glendale, as its 2025-26 Arizona Teacher of the Year.

Saavedra was recognized by his peers and colleagues for creating a classroom where students are challenged, inspired, and empowered to exceed expectations, which includes implementing a student TED Talk program and leading a fifth grade writing mentor program, where middle school students support fifth grade students in their writing.

"John Saavedra is a wonderful example of the impact our teachers make on the lives of our students,” stated Mia Vega, Legacy Traditional Schools Superintendent. “He’s an exemplary role model and colleague and Legacy is proud to acknowledge his positive contributions to our Glendale campus."
