Higley's big inning downs Mountain Ridge in Glendale

One sideways inning sank a Mountain Ridge baseball season that grew more promising every week the young team grew.

In Tuesday's 6A elimination game, #14 seed Gilbert Higley broke open a scoreless deadlock with a six-run eruption in the top of the third. The visiting Knights then coasted to a 10-1 win at #11 Mountain Ridge (14-14).

Senior starter Matthew Licardi allowed all six runs but only two were earned. The Mountain Lions committed four errors in the game.
