On April 15, Scottsdale-based Diversified Partners played host to the official groundbreaking for Shops at the Cardinal, a new nine-acre retail and restaurant development located near State Farm Stadium in Glendale’s sports and entertainment district at the southeast corner of 91st Avenue and Cardinals Way.
The event drew a crowd, including Mayor Jerry Weiers, members of the Glendale City Council, key staff from the city’s economic development and arts and culture departments, representatives from the Glendale Police Department and the Glendale Chamber of Commerce. Future tenant Señor Taco catered the event.
“It’s always exciting to gather for a groundbreaking because it means something meaningful is coming to life in our city,” stated Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers in a press release. “Glendale’s sports and entertainment district is one of the most visited areas in Arizona, and Shops at the Cardinal is bringing high-quality, recognizable brands and convenient, family-friendly services to a growing part of our city. I want to thank Walt Brown and the Diversified Partners team for continuing to believe in Glendale and building with purpose.”
The $20 million project is already nearly fully leased with nationally recognized brands and local favorites. Confirmed tenants include Swig, Señor Taco, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Bonchon, Nautical Bowls and more.
This center is being designed by RKAA Architects, with The Renaissance Companies serving as the general contractor.
“Shops at the Cardinal sits in one of the most high-impact corridors in the Valley, and we’ve been intentional about creating a mix of nationally recognized brands and community favorites. With just 1,200 square feet remaining, this momentum reflects the strength of the Glendale market—and we can’t wait to see it come to life.” stated Walt Brown Jr., founder and CEO of Diversified Partners.
