Machinist Mate First Class Angela Briones is assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4).
She is a native of Glendale and recently performed a traditional dance with one of her family members during a Native American Indian Heritage Month ceremony on the mess decks as Boxer steamed in the Pacific Ocean.
The ceremony took place Thursday, Nov. 21. The USS Boxer and embarked elements of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit are conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations.
Briones is a member of the Navajo Nation.
