Glendale Police lead family event at Westgate

Westgate Entertainment District and the Glendale Police Department are inviting the community to Wheels & Shields, a free family-friendly event featuring police vehicles, interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 8 at Westgate's Water Dance Plaza, N. 6770 Sunrise Blvd. Families will have the opportunity to meet Glendale police officers, explore a SWAT vehicle, police motorcycles, and patrol SUVs, while learning about public safety through interactive displays from the Glendale Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Unit and Community Action Team.

There will also be live drone demonstrations, police giveaways, coloring books, stickers and educational materials for kids.

Registration is not required for Wheels & Shields. Parking fees are in effect right before and during this event.

In Westgate-operated lots, patrons can park for free before and after these limited event charge hours and for free for up to two hours, even during event charge hours.
