On Feb. 26, the Glendale Planning Commission unanimously approved a conditional use permit for a self defense-oriented business in a vacant space at Citadelle Plaza
Rogelio Arrieta with Phalanx Tactical Group LLC is the applicant for the storefront, which is about 4,700 square feet. It falls under the health and fitness center designation, and includes firearms training, but will not involve live ammunition.
“The new self defense indoor training facility will offer a variety of training programs associated with firearms safety instructions in a class setting and self defense training,” Glendale Senior Planner Lerma said at the meeting. “No live ammunition will be used or permitted in the facility. Only laser based or CO2-powered simulated firearms will be used on site.”
