Glendale welcomes Kimberly Hall as the new Community Services Director, as was announced Oct. 31.

Hall spent decades serving vulnerable citizens. She brings decades of experience working for Goodwill Industries in multiple states. She is stepping into the role following Jean Moreno’s retirement from the city of Glendale after 30 years of service.

Moreno led the city's recent presentation on options to move or renovate the Velma Teague Library Branch at the Oct. 24 City Council workshop.

In this role, Hall will manage the strategic planning, policy development, community funding, and community engagement efforts to enhance services for residents. She will lead a staff of more than 110 people who manage programs including neighborhood revitalization, community housing, community action program and library services.

“We are excited to have a proven leader step into a role supporting the critical needs of our residents,” Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps stated in a press release. “The direct impact this department has on our community is significant, and Kimberly brings not only years of professional experience but also years of experience in leading organizations that serve the community in impactful ways.”

Hall most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer at Goodwill Southern Los Angeles County. Prior to that, she led workforce development, disaster recovery efforts, and service contracts for Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi. 

“I am committed to strengthening the community by providing critical services that focus on education, infrastructure, housing, and crisis support to expand access to economic opportunities for the entire community,” Hall stated in the press release.

Hall holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services Management from University of Phoenix and a Master of Science degree in Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

Hall’s first day in the city will be Nov. 12.
