Glendale high school entrepreneurs earn third place at Stanford competition

Three Mountain Ridge High School Career and Technical Education students earned third place at the Youth Business Venture Competition at Stanford University, where young entrepreneurs from around the world pitched early-stage startup ideas to venture capitalists, Stanford researchers, and other business professionals.

The Deer Valley Unified School District team was among just 15 finalists selected to compete in person after advancing with its startup, Avora.

Avora is designed to address a problem facing clinical trials: finding eligible patients and making them aware that trials exist. The students developed the platform as a neutral third party connecting people with chronic diseases to clinical trials for which they may qualify. The service would be free to patients, with clinical-trial sponsors paying Avora for successful enrollments.
