Scouting Arizona, Grand Canyon Council, an independent non-profit organization chartered by Scouting America, honored nine Scouts on Jan. 22 for making an impact in the community through leadership, citizenship, scout spirit, heroism or community service.

Honorees will be awarded their distinction at a public event this summer. The 2025 Scouts of the Year, Jose S., Christopher B., Elsa C., Conrad R., Megan M. and Madelyn L., will represent Scouting Arizona all year at council events, media opportunities and in executive board meetings. This is the first year that Cub Scouts of the Year, Mackenzie H. and Jack J., will also take on this role.

The council has introduced their first Explorer of the Year, Bianca G., to honor her dedication to the Wellton Border Patrol Explorer Program.

“This program highlights the outstanding young men and women who represent the values and mission of scouting in Arizona. We are eager to see how this group of scouts will continue to inspire and motivate their peers while giving back to their community,” stated Andy Price, GCC’s CEO and scout executive.

Elsa is a Glendale resident and a dedicated scout. She has recognized scouting as an opportunity for growth and camaraderie as she observed her father as a scout leader and brother as an Eagle Scout.

She was honored as a scout of the year due to her dedication, enthusiasm, and ability to inspire others. Fellow scouts admire her leadership style as she fosters a supportive but hard-working environment. She demonstrates her passion and belief in scouting as she has recruited five prospective scouts to her troop.
