The Glendale Fire Department wants to ensure everyone stays safe around water this summer and will lead a water safety workshop to teach life-saving skills.
This free event is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26 at the Glendale Community College, Student Union, 6000 W. Olive Ave.
The city’s water safety workshop will have experts teaching participants about the importance of adults always supervising children around water, as well as why to enroll kids in swimming lessons, use fences and/or other barriers around pools and for adults to get trained in CPR.
A mock drowning will take place to emphasize the importance of acting quickly when someone is struggling in the water. Fire officials also will talk about the benefits of life jackets.
May is Water Safety Month. Glendale’s Parks and Recreation Department, and partners in the community, including Glendale Community College, SRP and Child Crisis Arizona, will join the fire department.
The workshop is geared towards adults. Anyone who is interested in attending should RSVP to 2025 Water Safety Workshop. For information, contact GFDCommunityProgram@glendaleaz.com
