Glendale hired Trent Dutry as the new Economic Development Deputy Director. Dutry has decades of experience in project and community management and will lead the teams responsible for city events and arts and culture engagement.

In this role, Dutry will manage the Special Events Division, the Arts and Culture Division, and redevelopment efforts including downtown development. The position directs city events like Glendale Glitters, the music festival Live! and Ballet Under the Stars.

Dutry also will supervise permits for all events happening citywide.

“Trent is a leader with a proven track record in community engagement and developing high-performing teams,” said Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps.

Dutry spent nearly 30 years in the sports and entertainment industry with the Phoenix Suns. He led day-to-day operations, vendor negotiations and employee development. He most recently worked for Enchant Christmas, where he led large-scale event production and oversaw the Phoenix-based team.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from DeVry Institute.

“I am excited to join the Glendale Economic Development team to lead these two divisions,” said Dutry. “My goal is to elevate the city’s reputation as a vibrant hub, where creativity thrives and every experience leaves a lasting impact.”

Dutry’s first day working for the city was Dec. 10.
