It is all about the love between friends as Historic Downtown Glendale presents Galentine’s Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, with a fun day of activities to gather the girlfriends together to honor the value of female friendships.
Locally owned businesses in the Catlin Court and Old Towne historic districts have created a day to celebrate the friendships women share. There will be many make-and-take experiences, pop-up artisan markets, fresh-baked sweet treats and more.
Photo ops are available along the way. Guests can also follow the Historic Downtown Glendale Charm Trail to fill a bracelet with charms including a special Galentine’s Day charm.
“You will find lovely gift ideas at the unique boutiques and specialty shops and delicious treats to satisfy your sweet tooth at the iconic eateries,” stated Valerie Burner, owner of Bears & More and event chairperson, in a press release.
Downtown Glendale is made up of two distinct historic districts; Catlin Court features front porches lined with picket fences. The Old Towne District is home to one-of-a-kind shops and a restaurant row nestled along red brick sidewalks. The two districts span 12 blocks filled with locally owned small businesses.
Start Galentine’s Day at the Arizona Information Center booth in Memory Lane Trinkets and Treasures, 5836 W. Palmaire Ave., to pick up the activity list and walking map.
The first 100 visitors to the information booth receive a free Galentine’s Day sticker. The sticker is part of the series of specialty stickers available at the monthly events in downtown.
Galentine’s Day is presented by the Historic Downtown Glendale Merchants Association, which stimulates, enhances, and sustains the economic vitality and customer experience of the historic district. For information, check out VisitDowntownGlendale.com or follow at Facebook.com/HistoricGlendale.
