The rhythmic tapping of red and white canes will fill Heroes Regional Park in Glendale this Saturday.

Hundreds are expected to gather for the 25th Annual Arizona VisionWalk on Saturday, April 5 to raise $107,000 to fund groundbreaking research in gene therapy, stem cells, and pharmaceutical treatments, all with the goal of restoring and preserving sight.

Registration starts at 8 a.m., followed by the walk at 9:30.

The walk supports more than 10 million Americans affected by blinding retinal diseases, including retinitis pigmentosa, Stargardt’s disease, macular degeneration, and Usher syndrome. The Foundation Fighting Blindness leads the charge in funding cutting-edge research aimed at preventing, treating, and curing blindness.

Residents affected by vision loss, along with their families and friends are invited to participate in this free, family-friendly event by walking either individually or as part of a team. The day will feature kids' activities, refreshments, and live entertainment.

“Losing my vision is a daily struggle,” Fai Mo, Arizona Chapter president of the Foundation Fighting Blindness, shared in a press release. “But we have hope thanks to the exciting research and clinical trials underway.”

The Foundation Fighting Blindness was founded in 1971.
