Former Glendale Community College president returns to education field

Education Forward Arizona welcomes Teresa Leyba Ruiz

The former president of Glendale Community College has returned to the education field.

Education Forward Arizona named Dr. Teresa Leyba Ruiz senior vice president and chief advocacy and programs officer.

Education Forward Arizona, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, advocates and acts on education improvements that advance the quality of life for all Arizonans. In her role, Leyba Ruiz will be responsible for leading the organization’s education advocacy efforts and will oversee scholarship and advising programs that serve Arizona students.

Prior to joining Education Forward Arizona, Leyba Ruiz served as GCC’s eighth president from 2018 through 2022, having previously served as interim president for two years.

She has a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education from Arizona State University, a Master of Education from Northern Arizona University, and a Doctorate in Higher and Post-Secondary Education from ASU.
