MESA - Section 7 weekend was a mixed bag for both of Glendale's boys basketball powerhouses June 20-22 in southeast Mesa.
Deer Valley finished 2-2 with a fairly similar team to its 2024-25 4A title runner up, though Tyran Simpson graduated and senior forward Carter Guggenberger was busy playing 7-on-7 football for the Skyhawks.
Senior twin point guards Sergio and Simon Gonzales and senior wing Elias Riley are back and junior guard Micah Andrews will have a much larger role after an injury ended his playoffs early. Guggenberger will return at forward, but several rotation spots will be open.
