Daughter of Glendale Community College's 1st president gives back

Posted

The Prince family name is synonymous with service and support for Glendale Community College, its students, staff, and faculty.

Recently, GCC was the recipient of a planned gift from Terry Prince Sims. However the legacy of family service goes back six decades when Dr. John F. Prince served as the college’s first president.

Terry Prince Sims is the daughter of Prince.

“GCC has always been a place of inspiration for me. The warmth of the campus envelopes me and always has. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm, friendly and inviting. There’s the unmistakable feeling that this campus is unique and special, and that all who work here are intent and truly committed to supporting the students’ pursuit of their educational goals.” Terry Prince Sims said.

The estate gift celebrates the multigenerational support and lifelong connection of the Prince family and GCC.  In addition to being the namesake of the Dr. John F. Prince Library, there is also the Dr. John F. Prince Memorial Scholarship.

The John F. Price Library is a resource for students and members of the community. The Price Family Estate gift is made with the intention that students, for decades to come, will continue to experience the education, and support that is core to Glendale Community College.

“Every day at Glendale Community College, I see how education changes lives - and I am deeply moved by the donors like the Prince family who make that possible. When someone chooses to leave an estate gift, they are planting the seeds of hope that will grow long after they are gone. It’s a profound act of generosity that reflects the same values that we at GCC hold dear; a caring and supportive environment, an unwavering focus on the future, and a belief in the power of learning to uplift communities," stated Dr. Tiffany Hernandez, President of Glendale Community College. "The Prince family legacy, and others like it, becomes their future - and that is truly inspiring.”
