Christmas parade marches through downtown Glendale for 7th straight year

Glendale's Hometown Christmas parade has become a community event.

In its seventh year, the parade route is the same, starting at 52nd Avenue and finishing at 58th Drive headed west on Glendale Avenue. Donations of nonperishable food, new toys and clothing went to help Operation Santa Claus and Hope for Hunger, a Glendale-based food bank.

Al McCoy, play-by-play announcer of the Phoenix Suns and a long-time Glendale resident, was the Grand Marshal of Glendale's 2019 Hometown Christmas Parade. Mr. McCoy is the NBA's longest-tenured team broadcaster.

The announcement of the parade entry winners came at the end of the parade. City Councilman Ian Hugh sponsored the marching band competition. Parade judges included Kenneth Jaeger, Michael Warner, Dee Dee Kelly, Erika Erikson and Sarah Ortega.
