Southeast Valley group’s opioid-abuse program wins award

The Southeast Valley Community Alliance has been selected to receive the Community Engagement Keeping Hope Alive Award, recognizing individuals and organizations that work to keep kids, families and communities safe and healthy.

The award honors the alliance’s community event, “An Evening of Connection and Conversation,” a free public gathering held earlier this year that brought youth voices, education and open dialogue together to address the impact of the opioid and illicit fentanyl crisis on local families, according to a press release.

The alliance will receive the award at the Arizona Drug Summit on Sept. 9.
