Gilbert starts 'Hello from the Heritage District' postcard project for holdays

Posted

Gilbert is encouraging visitors to the Heritage District in the holiday season to send a message to others via postcard.

The new campaign supports the public art initiative in Gilbert’s Heritage District, meant to integrate Gilbert’s historic and cultural identity into public spaces.

The "Hello from the Heritage District" postcard project will feature five postcard mailing stations set up inside select downtown businesses with each station offering a different postcard that visitors can fill out and then drop in the mailbox for special delivery.

The postcards feature exclusive illustrations created in collaboration with the design team at Cactus Country.

Depictions of different Heritage District locales and icons including the Water Tower, Heritage Marketplace, and Hearne Way are featured on the postcards, which will be mailed in time for the holiday season.

Hello from the Heritage District Postcard mailing stations are located in the Heritage District at these businesses:

  • HD South Museum, 10 S. Gilbert Road, Gilbert;
  • Joyride Taco House 302 N. Gilbert Road, suite 101, Gilbert;
  • Joe’s Real BBQ 301 N. Gilbert Road, Gilbert;
  • Scoopwell’s Dough Bar 51 W. Vaughn Ave., suite 106, Gilbert;
  • Level 1 Arcade Bar 60 W. Vaughn Ave., suite 107, Gilbert.

The postcard stations feature the new Heritage District wayfinding and placemarketing design that will be displayed on the new directory and character signs being installed later this year.

The Town of Gilbert is set to soon complete the first phase of the Wayfinding & Placemarketing project that began in March 2023.

According to the Gilbert Office of Economic Development, 1 in 4 visitors to Gilbert will visit the Heritage District during their stay and in the last five years alone, nearly 27 million visits took place in the Heritage District, according to 2023 data from Placer.ai.

The Hello from the Heritage District postcard stations are in place and will  run through the new year or while supplies last.
