Love letters to Gilbert: Community projects underway in the Heritage District
The Heritage District is the site of a public-art project called Love Letters.
Special for Independent Newsmedia/Arianna Grainey
Visitors to the Heritage District in February can participate in a monthlong public art installation called "Love Letters."
The self-guided community art project invites residents and visitors alike to share their sentiments on the district on wooden hearts that can then be hooked onto the entry walls of Gilbert’s Park & Ride lot, located at 222 N. Ash Street, at the Page Avenue and Ash Street intersection.
The visual activation in the Heritage District will be on display from Feb. 1-27, while supplies last. The community is encouraged to share their downtown favorite activities, businesses and experiences.

After the installation is removed, Town staff will catalogue the responses as part of a series of collaborative public outreach efforts leading up to the 2028 Heritage District Redevelopment Plan.
In addition, Gilbert Public Schools will again engage in their annual tradition, Random Acts of Kindness Day.
Held on Feb. 17, the Gilbert Elementary Kindness & Service Club will be creating and placing up kindness posters throughout the Heritage District. The posters will be primarily along Gilbert Road on the light poles, in the parking garages, in addition to select areas in Veterans and Page Park.
Posters will be on display through Feb. 23.
