Two Florence Unified School District students took top prizes in the Pinal County Community Advisory Board's Character Counts Essay Competition.
Second-grader Faith Nunley of Florence K-8 won first place for the K-2 division. An award ceremony was held at the Pinal County Courthouse where Nunley received an award, a trophy and a gift. Nunley read her first-place essay on ways she has shown kindness.
Third-grader Rayna Wheelwright of San Tan Heights K-8 placed second in division 2. She too was invited to the awards ceremony at the Pinal County Courthouse, where she was recognized along with other winners. Her essay was on "How have you shown kindness to others?"
