After providing heat relief to more than 2,000 people Valley-wide during last week’s five-day stretch of Excessive Heat Warnings, The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services will again activate West Valley heat relief stations where anyone in need can go for indoor cooling and hydration during Excessive Heat Warning days issued by the National Weather Service May 6-7.

The following heat relief stations – which will follow all recommended CDC COVID-19 guidelines for safety – will open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on May 6 and May 7 and on any day the National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning:

 Glendale

  • Glendale Corps Community Center, 6010 W. Northern Ave.
  • Valley of the Sun Korean Corps Community Center, 7238 N. 61st Ave.

Surprise

  • Sun Cities West Valley Corps Community Center, 17420 N. Avenue of the Arts Blvd.

Avondale

  • Estrella Mountain Corps Community Center, 11 N. Third Ave.

A mobile hydration unit will also be dispatched to targeted portions of the Valley that have been identified as homeless encampments and areas with high homeless populations.
